Onboarding New Teammates in Dynamic Environments

In response to COVID 19, AACE SF will host a FREE virtual event. Register HERE today!

Join AACE SF on 3/30/21 at 5PM PST for an amazing presentation from our speakers, Jake Prince and Nikki Kong.

Webinar Description: While HR typically covers compliance-based onboarding during a new hire's first week, there's more to joining an organization than learning about the company's vacation policy and signing an NDA. In fact, most onboarding and cultural acclimation isn't covered by HR at all — it's the responsibility of the new employee's hiring manager and teammates to get them up to speed. If done correctly, the first days, weeks, and months in a new role can provide the new hire with a lasting foundation for long-term success. If done poorly, it might doom the new hire from the start. From offboarding the departing employee to onboarding the new teammate, this presentation will cover what steps teams can take before, during, and after a new hire's first day to ensure they're set up for success in their project controls role.

Speakers Bios:

Jake Prince and Nikki Kong are a freelance communications team named Elevos. They help organizations disseminate key messages by creating communications resources that inform, engage, and delight.

Jake Prince: Hailing from Alaska, Jake is an avid cyclist, hiker, and skier. His thirst for the great outdoors has always been a guiding force in his personal life and recently, in his professional life as well. Jake worked fully remote before it was cool; since November 2019, he has been living and working in places like Colombia, Alaska, and Hawaii. In a past life, Jake was a project controls and training consultant to PG&E and Xcel Energy, as well as a scheduler and claims consultant to Balfour Beatty and Walsh Construction. Jake is excited for the future of independent contracting and its role as a major force in the global economy.

Nikki Kong: Nikki is a burgeoning adventurer with soft spots for kayaking, running, and cooking big meals after kayaking and running. Prior to starting Elevos with Jake, she was a program controls and process improvement consultant to PG&E. Nikki has a deep love for all things related to storytelling, design, and data visualization, and regularly presents on these topics to classes and clubs at her alma mater, Cal Poly SLO. Nikki has high hopes for the future of corporate storytelling as companies begin to hone their communication skills with distributed offices, global workforces, and a greater focus on inclusion and accessibility.
